Terms of service
Effective July 7, 2026
Chess Coach is beta software, provided as-is. Playing is free; the free tier may change with notice. If you’re a founding subscriber, your founding price is honored. Don’t abuse the coaching API. Subscriptions auto-renew and you can cancel anytime. You own your games; we own the service.
These terms govern your use of Chess Coach, operated by [Five Over Nine LLC — CONFIRM ENTITY]. By using the service you agree to them. Questions: alex@fiveovernine.com.
Beta software
Chess Coach is in beta and is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Features may change, break, or disappear. The coach can be wrong; it is a study tool, not authoritative chess instruction.
Free tier and founding pricing
Playing is free during beta. When paid plans launch, the free tier may change, and we’ll give notice before it does. Players who subscribe at the founding price keep that price for as long as their subscription stays active.
Acceptable use
Use Chess Coach for personal chess study. Don’t abuse or automate the coaching API, scrape the service, resell access, or attempt to disrupt it for others.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Refunds are handled per Stripe’s dispute process and on a reasonable-request basis.
Your content and our service
You own your games and the moves you play. We own Chess Coach — the software, the coaching system, and the brand. Nothing here transfers our intellectual property to you, or yours to us.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — CONFIRM], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these terms and will note the effective date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
